Egg Prices Surge Beyond 4 Yuan Amid Supply Constraints

by Daisy

In early July, the average price of eggs soared past the “4 yuan” mark across major production areas nationwide, driven by a confluence of factors including elevated vegetable prices and limited production surpluses. According to a report by Jinshi Futures on July 11, the surge in egg prices was fueled by tight supplies in production regions. Initially, the market faced resistance from consumers as acceptance waned due to higher prices. However, since July 9, prices have stabilized and market sentiment among industry participants has moderated.

Despite this recent stabilization, industry analysts caution that persistent supply constraints could exert upward pressure on egg prices in the medium to long term. Zhuochuang Information noted that while the market has regained some rationality, the outlook remains bullish owing to ongoing supply challenges across various links in the supply chain.

This development underscores the delicate balance between supply dynamics and consumer affordability in the egg market, reflecting broader trends in agricultural commodities amid fluctuating economic conditions.
