ANRPC: Global natural rubber production increased in May

On June 21, the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) released the “Natural Rubber Monthly Statistical Report” for May.

The report shows that with the resumption of rubber tapping activities, global natural rubber production increased by 0.3% year-on-year in May to 1.006 million tons.

Global natural rubber demand rose 3.5% year-on-year to 1.272 million tonnes in May, despite a modest increase in production.

Given the shortage of supply, the fundamentals of the natural rubber market are positive, but long-term geopolitical tensions, high borrowing costs, a K-shaped recovery in major consuming countries and the decline in Brent crude oil prices have overshadowed the support of the fundamentals.
