On June 30, according to media reports, the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) soft red winter wheat futures market closed down moderately on Thursday, with the benchmark period closing about 0.20% lower, following the decline in the neighboring corn market.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture will announce the acreage and quarterly inventory report, and traders are quite active in adjusting their positions that day.
The weekly export sales report released by the USDA showed that for the week ending June 22, 2023, total U.S. wheat sales were 155,200 tons, slightly higher than the 123,900 tons a week earlier.
Volume in wheat futures was estimated at 95,862 lots Thursday, compared with 117,958 lots in the previous session. The volume of empty positions was 295,354 lots, compared with 299,609 lots in the previous trading day.
